Backend Engineer
Xata is hiring Backend Engineers to join its Control Plane, Data Plane, or Storage teams. They're looking for engineers who enjoy building distributed systems, have strong backend development skills, and are highly self-directed. Work on the infrastructure that gives AI agents their own isolated Postgres environments at scale.
Responsibilities
- - Build and scale distributed backend systems for Xata's Postgres infrastructure
- - Work across Control Plane, Data Plane, or Storage teams depending on fit
- - Design and implement TypeScript services powering instant Postgres branching for AI agents
- - Ensure reliability, performance, and security of database infrastructure
- - Collaborate with a small, senior, highly self-directed engineering team
- - Contribute to a developer-first product roadmap at the frontier of agentic AI

- - Strong backend engineering experience with distributed systems
- - TypeScript and Node.js proficiency
- - PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, or database infrastructure experience a strong plus
- - Highly self-directed — comfortable owning problems from first principles

- - Remote-friendly, EU-eligible
